For some time now I have taken an interest in the contributions to this group. And I have found, to my surprise, that contributors have in general demonstrated not only, an excellent grasp of the English language, faultless intellectual rigour, sound logic, impressive use of well focused argument, an impressive ability to select and manufacture only supporting facts, but also above all a total miss-interpretation and disregard of and for both internal and external reality verging on the acute psychotic. Not at all surprising, you may think, considering the type of personality attracted to uk.local groups under the present UK Usenet Committee set-up. However, it is too easy and unwise to be dismissive. This total disregard of and for both internal and external reality gave me the incentive to develop an interesting line of inquiry which resulted in the formulation of a number of carefuly thought out hypotheses. I have listed the central issue of each hypotheses below. 1). Alien life forms are using this news group to contact suitable members of the "human race". 2). That the vast majority of participants live in another universe and are well out of touch with the reallity of this one. 3). That the remainder fall into 4 groups, [a] net-nannies, [b] nutters, [c] pranksters, and [d] mental health researchers trying to measure the extent to which the Care in the Community Programme has failed and assess the failure of the early detection of mental instability programme. It has always seemd to me that not all of the postings to this news group are what they purport to be. Indeed, it may be that only a very very few are straight forward postings. In my opinion the rest are most likely to be cunningly devised personality and IQ tests. It would appear that the personality tests are designed to test for and filter in this that and the next targeted ?human trait. There is some discussion going on as to whether the IQ tests are designed to filter in or out low scores. Never the less, it seems that a certain well defined personality type is being sought after by as yet unknown individual(s) or organisation(s). There is as yet insufficient evidence upon which to base a clear identity. We need more evidence and this is where an individual such as yourself can make a valuable contribution to the development of the human race. Rather than contribute to a thread, which under normal circumstances would be the most appropriate response, there is strong evidence to suggest that the response awaited is for interested individuals to contact the original poster of certain articles direct using e-mail. Not to contribute to any group at all would, it seems to me, indicate suitability for further contact. Those using this means of communication would be regarded as having passed the test. Further contact would then probably take place. Therefor, I would suggest that you DO NOT EVER contribute to the thread, NOR for that matter to any other news group, but e-mail the original poster. No further e-mails should be sent by you until contact takes place. Under no circumstances should e-mail be sent to our address. The next step is to wait. The most important thing to do is to wait, do not post to this or any other news group nor send e-mail messages to anyone. Good luck. Caruthers Carstairs-McKraken
